Etsy permits original seller designs made with a production partner. Relevant listings must disclose the partner and show the correct dispatch location. Buying a generic finished product from a supplier does not automatically make it eligible.

For a design-led mug or print, keep the design file and confirm which parts are your own work. Check the specific product against the current Creativity Standards.

Show a finished personalised example

For personalised or custom items, the first listing image must show a finished customised item, rather than a blank product or placeholder wording. Prepare a real example and make the available options clear.

Our suggested photo routine: show the finished front, another angle, the size and a relevant detail. Use the image studio to clean a suitable background without changing the product or concealing a flaw.

Order a sample and price the whole job

Before scaling, inspect a sample and record product, shipping, packaging, marketplace and returns costs. Check processing time and the dispatch country against your listing. Compare print suppliers on those details, then model the actual margin rather than just the supplier’s base price.
