Delivery & resilience / Shopify / UK · eligible Shopify stores and orders

Shopify adds Royal Mail pickup points. Try the checkout before switching them on.

Shopify’s 15 October update adds Royal Mail pickup points for UK checkouts. Buyers can select a Post Office branch or Royal Mail Customer Service Point. Eligibility matters: some baskets and payment routes will not show the option, and the delivery price is yours to set.

THE SOURCED NEWS

What Shopify announced on 15 October

Eligible UK stores can add Royal Mail through Settings, then Shipping and delivery, then Pickup points. Customers choose a location from a map or list. Shopify’s Royal Mail guide identifies Local Collect services on Tracked 24 and Tracked 48.

The pickup-point help page requires the whole physical order to be available from one location and excludes B2B customers and specified accelerated payment routes, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay and PayPal. Shopify also says its carrier-account labels cannot be bought for Great Britain-to-Northern Ireland orders. Check the current store, basket and route requirements before enabling this carrier-collection option.

SELLERBUNDLE PRACTICAL ANALYSIS

SellerBundle: walk through it like a buyer

Start with one product that you actually keep in stock at the chosen location. Check what a customer sees for a straightforward basket, then repeat with products stored at different locations. Record when the collection option disappears, rather than promising it on every product page.

Make the description easy to understand. Tell buyers they are choosing a carrier pickup location, where to find its opening hours and how they will know the order is ready. A collection point is not necessarily open all night, and an old photograph is not evidence of today’s branch availability.

SELLERBUNDLE PRACTICAL ANALYSIS

Price the whole order, not just the label

Put the label, packaging and any postage contribution you absorb into the free cost calculator. Compare that result with your normal home-delivery option before deciding the customer’s charge.

Keep a simple support note for collection questions and uncollected parcels. Watch the first few eligible orders closely, and use the current carrier and Shopify guidance when answering a specific delivery question. Treat this as a measured extra choice, not a guaranteed conversion boost.
