Shopify’s checkout helper is here. Test the changes like a customer.

Shopify’s 13 October update brings Sidekick guidance into the desktop checkout and accounts editor, with help for Checkout Blocks too. The useful next step is checking one change carefully—not assuming AI advice guarantees a working checkout.

THE SOURCED NEWS

What has changed?

Shopify announced on 13 October that Sidekick is available in the desktop checkout and customer-accounts editor. It can explain settings, suggest apps and search the Shopify Help Center.

In the Checkout Blocks app, it can also help merchants understand existing blocks and functions, plan changes and find the relevant settings. This is guidance: the release does not promise that every requested feature is available on every plan, or that Sidekick will automatically make and validate your changes. No separate future activation date is given.

SELLERBUNDLE PRACTICAL ANALYSIS

SellerBundle: start with one annoying buyer problem

Choose something specific, such as confusing delivery wording or an account step customers struggle to understand. Write down what a buyer sees now and what you want them to see instead. Ask for an explanation of the relevant setting before asking for extra apps.

Save a note or screenshot of the original configuration. Check the feature’s plan requirements and any app cost before agreeing to it. If an app is recommended, look at the permissions it requests and whether a setting you already have can do the job.

SELLERBUNDLE PRACTICAL ANALYSIS

Do the boring test that protects the sale

Use the platform’s documented preview or test process and follow the journey on both phone and desktop. Check the basket, delivery options, payment screen and order confirmation. Include a guest journey and an account journey where your shop supports them. Do not send a live payment just to test a wording change.

Make one change at a time and keep a way to restore the previous settings. Review actual orders and customer feedback afterward; a sales CSV alone cannot tell you why someone abandoned checkout. If you run adverts, keep spending controlled until the updated journey works reliably. Helpful guidance saves searching, but the final buyer experience still needs your check.
